Gas plumbing is not DIY work — a single unpermitted hookup can void your homeowner's insurance and, more importantly, kill someone. Crystal Falls Plumbing runs a dedicated gas-licensed division for Leander natural gas (Atmos Energy) and propane (Central Texas dealers) installations, repairs, and appliance hookups. Every gas job we do is pressure-tested to code and permitted through the City of Leander or Williamson County.
We install new gas runs for ranges, cooktops, ovens, dryers, water heaters, tankless heaters, patio grills, fire pits, pool heaters, and whole-home generators. We also inspect and repair the yellow CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing) common in Central Texas new construction — including proper bonding, which is a common code violation we find on 2-year-old homes.
When You Need a Gas Plumber
If you smell gas anywhere in or around the home, leave first and call from outside. Do not switch on lights or use garage door openers.
- Rotten-egg smell inside the home or near the meter
- Hissing sound near a gas appliance or line
- Dead grass or plants in a straight line across the yard
- Higher-than-normal Atmos Energy bill with no usage change
- Adding a gas range, generator, or pool heater
- Converting an electric appliance to gas
- Yellow CSST tubing that hasn't been properly bonded
How We Handle Gas Work
- 1. Inspection & Design
We measure the load on your existing gas system, size the new line correctly (BTU calc), and design a route that minimizes wall or slab penetration.
- 2. Permit
We pull the gas plumbing permit in our license number and schedule the Atmos Energy or city inspector.
- 3. Install & Pressure Test
New line installed in black iron or approved CSST, pressure-tested to 3 PSI for a documented minimum test time, and photographed for records.
- 4. Appliance Hookup & Leak Test
Final connection to the appliance, gas turned on, all joints leak-tested with a bubble solution, and the appliance is fired and verified.
What Our Gas Line Work Actually Includes
- Combustible-gas detector sweep of every joint, meter connection, appliance stub, and buried service riser
- Pressure test on any repair or new run — held per code and documented
- Yellow CSST or black iron pipe sizing based on BTU load of every appliance; no undersized runs
- Bonding of CSST per the current NEC — often missed on 2000s-era installs and a real fire risk in a lightning strike
- Appliance hookup: range, water heater, tankless, pool heater, generator, patio grill, fire pit, gas dryer
- City of Leander gas permit pulled under our RMP license (natural gas + LP endorsements) and inspection scheduled and closed on your behalf
What Affects the Price
Gas work is priced by distance from the meter, pipe material, code work required, and appliance BTU load.
- 1Distance from meter to appliance
- 2Black iron vs. CSST tubing
- 3Interior wall runs vs. attic vs. under-slab
- 4Meter upgrade required by Atmos Energy for larger loads
- 5Permit and inspection fees
- 6Number of appliances on the run
Serving Leander & Williamson County
Leander is served by Atmos Energy for natural gas, and any new line install requires an Atmos coordination step for meter sizing. We handle that coordination in-house so you don't spend a week on hold. For the propane-served properties on the west side of the service area (Volente, parts of Liberty Hill, Spicewood), we work with the local dealers to schedule tank fill and regulator sizing.
Why Leander Homeowners Trust Us With Gas Work
Gas is not a DIY category. Our RMP carries natural-gas and LP endorsements and every install is permit-pulled and inspected.

- Permit-pulled and inspected — the closed inspection record is proof the work was done right
- Full pressure test and combustible-gas detector sweep on every install and every repair
- 24/7 dispatch for suspected gas leaks — leave the house first, then call from outside
- Lifetime workmanship warranty on new gas line runs
